Background

After completing a BSc with a major in psychology and mathematics, Jane graduated with a BVSc(Hons) from the University of Sydney. Following some years of clinical work in private practice and at the Universities of Sydney (where she also obtained two additional postgraduate qualifications, DipVetClinStud and MVetClinStud) and Glasgow, she completed her training in Veterinary Epidemiology and Public Health through a PhD and DiplECVPH residency at the University of Glasgow. Jane has been involved in numerous research projects, acting as principal investigator for many of these, has published over 70 journal articles and delivered over 100 scientific presentations at national and international conferences. Jane has taught Veterinary Epidemiology, Public Health and Evidence Based Medicine at undergraduate and postgraduate levels for many years and has supervised numerous PhD, MSc and honours students to completion. Jane has developed and delivered courses in face to face and online formats and was responsible for oversight and coordination of the Problem Based Learning component of the Veterinary degree at Charles Sturt University for 5 years. In addition, Jane implemented a wellness program for undergraduate veterinary students and has a demonstrated interest in supporting student and veterinary mental health.

Leadership

Jane has been an active leader throughout her career to date. She has contributed to and chaired many committees, has been an active member of the ANZCVS (including serving on the examination committee for the Epidemiology Chapter for a number of years) and was the Associate Head of the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences at Charles Sturt University.
